This post will start with a screw up on my part, because I can't tell you how many times I hear, "Do you take photos outside of the fall months?' Or, "Do you even schedule photo sessions in the winter?" I must have dropped the ball, because 1.) YES I DO and, 2.) I'm clearly doing a terrible job of showing off those photos.
I'm here today to relay the message that WINTER PHOTOS ARE AWESOME. They really are! I'm going to start rattling off some of my favorite things about winter photos, and then I'll show you the actual proof with some of my fav winter photos below. Read on.....
TOP FIVE REASONS TO SCHEDULE YOUR PHOTOS IN THE WINTER:
There is nothing like a gorgeous, snowy photo. They are sublime!
2.) Easier scheduling
I have so much more scheduling flexibility in the winter (after January 1st!), so if the forecast sucks or it will be dry and boring on your scheduled date, we can wait until Colorado gives us some beautiful fresh snow.
3.) It's more fun to snuggle when it's cold
No one wants to snuggle when it's 90 degrees and everyone is sweating, but wrapping up in a cozy blanket with your loved one(s) when it's chilly is heaven, and it makes for incredible photos!
4.) You're pregnant
I'm not sure why most of my maternity clients are pregnant in the winter, but they are. If you're due in late winter or spring, your maternity photos will happen in the winter, and they will be glorious.
5.) You want something different
Fall in Colorado is beautiful, but it's also when 99% of people update their photos. If you want to stand out, winter photos are the way to go!
I want to add in a little note about Colorado's weather (as if we aren't all painfully aware of how volatile it can be!) Just like the other 3 seasons, any given winter day could give us warm temps, cold temps, wet, dry, wind, sun, rain, snow, blizzard, bomb cyclone, or a mix of these within a single day. If you have a certain look in mind – let me know! I will do my best to make it happen for you.
Are you sold yet!? Either way, take a look at some of my favorite winter photos. :)
