What's the deal with Mini-Sessions?

I want to dive into one of the most common questions that I hear:
What's the deal with mini-sessions!? Are they available all year?
I get a huge number of inquiries for Colorado mini-sessions throughout the year, and I want to chat about them today. Most people request a mini-session because they are either 1.) looking for a lower price or 2.) only need a few photos. Mini-sessions are a great option for these folks!
In a nutshell: mini-sessions take place on specific dates during the year, and I will usually schedule several families back to back. This allows me to serve more families during peak color-changing seasons (specifically the flowering trees in spring and the changing fall leaves) and gives my clients a lower priced photo session. Win win.
Every photographer runs their mini-sessions differently. Some are 5 minutes long and include one or two photos, and some are longer. All of my mini-sessions are 20 minutes long and include a downloadable gallery of 15+ photos. The locations are all in the South Denver Metro Area, and I choose the locations carefully to take advantage of the most beautiful colors and backgrounds. I've found that 20 minutes gives me enough time to get a small gallery of beautiful photos with a variety of poses, some fun candids, and a couple of different backgrounds.
To answer question number two: mini-sessions are not available outside of the pre-scheduled dates, HOWEVER, I have a 30-minute photo session that is a great mini-session alternative. It gives my clients the shorter photo session and lower price that they want, without waiting for May or October. It is also perfect for anyone who needs more flexibility on date and/or location. These clients will receive my location guide with 8 beautiful locations to choose from, and they always have the option to choose their own location within 20 miles of Kiowa, Colorado. 30-minute photo session clients will receive a gallery of 20+ photos, and as with mini-sessions, the gallery will include a variety of poses, some fun candids, and several different backgrounds.
