I met Kathleen, Wyatt, and their kids at my fall mini-sessions in Parker last year, and when they reached out to have me photograph their maternity and newborn sessions this year I was thrilled to be able to see them again! This family radiates love and warmth, and they are so laid back and fun to be around! Logan (little bro) wasn't thrilled about having his photo taken - in fact he was dead set against it - but watching Kathleen and Wyatt give him space and not forcing him to "sit and smile" was such a beautiful thing for me to be able to see. As a parent, I 100% understand the frustration when kids don't cooperate for photos, but photo sessions are so much more meaningful and real when we give kids the space that they need to be comfortable. Kathleen is a photographer also, so I'm guessing that is why she and I were on the same page with this idea. If you scroll to the very end, you will see that Logan smiled for ONE photo as we were walking back to our cars, haha. 😉
For this session, we met in one of my favorite hidden gems in Littleton. Parks aren't immune to the fallout from Covid, and this spot hasn't been well maintained over the past few months. The pond and waterfall were empty, the annual flowers weren't planted, and there was more trash than usual. However, you would never know these things when you see the photos, because 1.) they are so beautiful and full of love that you only notice that, and 2.) I was creative with framing and the areas that we chose to use. 😉 All of this is to say: so many people get caught up in finding a "perfect" photo location, but honestly we can make almost anywhere look amazing if you trust the process. That is all. 💜
Now for the fun part - photos! Enjoy some of my favorites from the Dressler family's maternity session, and stay tuned for more when little Noah arrives!
