I adore this sweet family, and have loved to document their family photos for the past several years. However, this year was my favorite yet! This was a big year for the Thatcher family - Rich and Morgan celebrated their 20th anniversary, and they also have their first high school senior this year. Morgan decided to plan a big photo session to celebrate and document all of their milestones, and I was thrilled to be a part of it!
If you have worked with me in the past, you may know that I love to find locations that are both beautiful and free to use, but I also love to splurge on gorgeous locations when my clients want something different. This session is an example of the latter: Castlewood Canyon State Park in Franktown is full of million dollar views, hiking trails, and so much more. They also charge photographers a permit fee plus the normal entrance fee to use the location, but oh my word is it beautiful place for photos! (As a side note: I fully support locations charging a permit fee to ensure that the gorgeous Colorado locations that we all know and love are protected for future generations - I have seen too many amazing places overrun and damaged in the past few years by photographers and others being careless.)
Back to the Thatcher family. We started their session with photos of Rorey to celebrate her senior year - she was so relaxed, sweet, and fun to hang out with and I love the photos that we created together. 💜 Next up was some couple's photo time with Rich and Morgan to commemorate their 20th anniversary. I LOVE photographing these two together each year because they are so clearly in love. With their 5 kids in the background, they hugged, laughed, embraced, and nailed their couple's photos as they do every year! Then we moved on to photos of the whole family, and we ended with a stunning golden hour at the iconic Castlewood Canyon bridge.
Thatcher family: THANK YOU so much for your support and for trusting me to photograph you each year! I am so grateful for you and I can't wait to see you next year!
