The Paul Family // Kiowa Colorado Extended Family Photographer

To say that this Kiowa extended family farm session was special would be an understatement. This was one of those sessions that reminded me why I began taking photos in the first place, and filled me with gratitude. This beautiful family unexpectedly lost their matriarch - wife - mother - grandmother earlier this year, and they wanted to take photos together as a way to honor her. I never had the privilege of meeting Mrs. Paul, but it is abundantly clear that she was someone very special. She left an incredible legacy through her husband, daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren, and you would be hard-pressed to find a family that is more kind and loving than this one!

During our session planning, Katie mentioned that they would all be wearing some form of blue as it was her mom's favorite color and that capturing the light was important to them. What struck me most, though, was when she said that they were all ready for a reason to smile together again. I am so humbled to have been a part of such an important moment for them.

We scheduled their session for an hour before sunset, and we had a mix of cloudy and clear skies during the first 45 minutes, leading up to one of the most beautiful golden hours you have ever seen. The light was beyond words, and as it wrapped this amazing family with a warm golden glow their love for each other was so apparent.

Paul/Allen/Ungerland Family: I was so blessed by my time with you, and I hope that you have been blessed by the photos that we created. You are such an inspiration and I pray for strength and peace for you all in the months and years to come. Thank you so much for trusting me to document such an important session for you!
