This session is the epitome of everything I love about Elbert County photo sessions, and you will soon see why!
I first met the Kohl family when our oldest girls became friends at school, and it was clear very quickly that we were meant to be friends! They are our "twin family" because we both have 4 children (3 girls and a boy) and they are similar ages as well! There is something so incredible about getting our two families together because every single child has a buddy, which is super hard to come by when you have as many kids as we do. ;-)
They also live on a gorgeous farm here in Kiowa that blooms into fields of wild sunflowers in August, so of course we had to document that with a family session! This was literally a dream location to photograph, and we had so much fun! I included a lot of "outtakes" because to be honest they are my favorite! They are honest, candid, and so much more true to reality than the photos where everyone is smiling and looking at the camera (although I love those photos too!)
The second half of our session took place by their chicken coop, because why not!? There were animals and children running wild and we had a blast including the feathered family members in some photos! This family LOVES their chickens, turkeys, ducks, and other animals and I was thrilled to have the opportunity to document that for them (and make some new friends in the process!)
There is something so special about taking photos at my clients' homes! I love incorporating pieces of their everyday lives and surroundings into the photos because I feel like it adds another level of importance to the photos. I would LOVE to photograph your family at your home too - shoot me an email at [email protected] to set it up! (My apologies for the shameless plug!) ;-)
Kohl family: thank you so much for allowing me to photograph your life on the farm! I loved every single second of it and I absolutely LOVE the resulting photos! I hope we can make these sunflower photos an annual thing because they are some of my favorites!
